ABA Instructor Therapist

Behaviour Avenues is frequently hiring ABA instructor therapists who are passionate about supporting children with autism using ABA principles. Part time and full time contract positions are available.

As an instructor therapist, you will be reporting to the clinical supervisor who is a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA), the instructor therapist is responsible to deliver Applied Behaviour Analysis programs to children and adolescents with autism in the home setting or in community settings.

Qualifications: 

  • BA in psychology or education with formal training in Applied Behaviour Analysis, and/or a college diploma in Autism and Behavioural Sciences, or Registered Behaviour Technician (RBT)

  • Minimum 1 year experience working with children with autism and delivering ABA skill building programs as well as behaviour reduction interventions and implementing behaviour support plans

  • Must have access to a car and a valid driver’s license

  • Valid NVCI (CPI) training or Safe Management training

Skills: 

  • Solid experience and fluency in delivering skill building programs (Discrete Trials Training, Natural Environment Training, Incidental Teaching

  • Experience teaching functional communication, attending skills, verbal behaviour skills

  • Solid experience with data collection, graphing, and progress report writing

  • Knowledge and familiarity with clinical assessments such as VBMAPP and ABLLS-R. Although the instructor therapist will not conduct assessments

  • Solid knowledge in Functional Behaviour Assessments and behaviour intervention plans

  • Ability to work with children who exhibit challenging behaviours

  • Establishing and maintaining good rapport and communication with parents

  • Demonstrates ability to work within a team

  • Enthusiastic and creative

  • Strong commitment to ethics and professionalism

  • Highly organized and excellent time management skills

  • Ability to work independently and adhering to treatment plans
